C-130 Hercules

Battle-Damage Repair

This was from a November 2008 trip to Bamako, Mali, Africa. The MC-130P's empennage, elevators and rudder were damaged by a nearby taxiing 727's jetblast. Our team of battle-damage repair technicians responded on short-notice and repaired the aircraft in a ridiculously short time. We repaired the damages with highly limited resources and replaced the flight controls with the minimal manning availability. The aircraft departed to home station on time in full mission capability status. The flight crew stated the aircraft handled better than it did before the damage.
